"Dearest, I am bewildered to distraction by the perplexities of maturing womanhood. I can stand the strain no longer. What shall I do? I should like to jump into a volcano." literalvolcano is inspired by the 1933 suicide of student Kiyoko Matsumura who jumped into  Mount Mihara after the woman she fell in love with rebuffed her. Over the next three years over 1000 people would follow her into the magma.
